This time around, being a tweener is a good thing. Today, that third notch on the belt didn't quite work while the fourth notch was a snug fit. It hasn't always been this way. Many times before it was going the other direction with an expanding waistline and a shrinking belt. So I certainly can't be unhappy, just a little off sartorially. But I feel like right now, my belt is a metaphor for life. My place in life isn't quite right, but the comfortable spot is just out of reach. For now, I'll have to pick a place that works until the right notch in the belt emerges.
So which notch did I choose? I picked the slightly tighter notch. That's the one that is moving in the right direction.
Dude, if I were only "tweener". That is my next project, by the way.

Never would have thought of the analogy, because I never wear belts!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on moving to the right! Umm... ;)
BOB,
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to this! I like to cinch my belt tight because otherwise my daks seem to go south. Also I prefer one belt from another. Don't you find that some belts seem a little 'stretchy'? You know - when you first wear them they're snug and later in the day they need to be tightened.
BTW I read your previous Post, "The Left Coast View" and had a peek at all the links there-in. I enjoyed it immensely.
Have a grouse weekend.
Mark.
Punch a new hole in your belt. It's not hard.
ReplyDeleteBelt and waistline imitate life??
ReplyDeleteYou are the consummate optimist! I like that.
ReplyDeletehola amigo!
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful weekend
I like it Bob. Keep moving in the right direction and hopefully you will find the right fit. I am trying to find that comfort zone myself. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteReally excellent metaphor. I love it. And by the way, I've been enjoying "Left Coast View " too.
ReplyDeletePerfection in a post, baby!
ReplyDeleteHere's to you and the tweener you're in right now... may it continue moving in the right direction!
The Hubby and I have this saying when it comes to parenting, "If it's the hardest thing to do, it's the right thing to do." It seems you've found that scenario for life..."If the belt is tighter, that's the way to go."
ReplyDeleteWhy is it like that? I wonder. Possibly because the challenges and struggles make us better people? Maybe we can't evolve if we don't go through the "tween" places first? Not sure.
Anyway, I think you made the right choice. I loved this post. Very good analogy and great writing.
Like Leah, I'm also enjoying "Left Coast View" and it has inspired me to become a pain in the State of California's ass with regard to our taxes too...stay tuned.
XOXOXOXO
RC
Penelope/Karen... Good luck with the project!
ReplyDeleteMegan... There aren't too many people in this world that think the same way I do.
Mark... That snug to loose phenomenon works for me sometimes too.
whatigotsofar... and ruin a perfectly good belt?
jennifer... I guess they do in my life. It's all about the food!
Karen... It's nice to see you around again. I hope things are going good down there in Florida. Don't forget to vote!
Kylie... Hi there :)
Mr. Shife... Keep working at it... hopefully that comfort zone will come for both of us soon.
Leah... Thanks for visiting both my blogs. How do the leaves look right now?
Catscratch... Thanks. I hope you find your comfort space too with all your moves and changes lately.
RC... Give the Governator hell... that nit wit deserves it. He'll be Mr. Poopy Pants after you get done with him!
I would have so gone for comfort with my goal being breakfast and lunch will fill in the gaps.
ReplyDeleteOr dropped my pants a tad down my hips....or said screw the belt I'm going for something new. No belt = no constraints.
You're a braver soul than me, my friend.
