Everything is fine

Don't worry folks, things are OK with me. I've gotten all tied up in watching the Democratic Convention and haven't had much time to devote to cranking out the quality literary pieces you have come to expect.

I plan to return to normal programming this weekend. Needless to say, I won't be preoccupied with the Ass-Hat Convention next weekend.

Here's something that always confused me about political party conventions. If you're not actually there and you've made up your mind as to which way to vote, why watch?
If the candidate says something you like, well, they're just preaching to the converted anyway. If the candidate screws up royally and says something you don't like, well, now you've got a reason to change your mind and vote for the other guy. Everything you hear from a convention will either confirm your opinions or create anxiety that you've gotten behind the wrong horse.
Am I missing something? What really can come about from a decided voter watching the convention?
I'm assumming you are a decided voter based on the ads for one ticket on your blog. Also the countdown thing and the referring of the other party as 'Asshats' makes it pretty clear who has got your vote this November.
If anything, a decided voter like you, should be watching the other guy's convention so you can see what the other guy is up to and help your guy campaign accordingly.
If I was running a political party, I would use the convention solely as a tool to convert the undecided.

I don't like to watch any of the ass hat conventions...I think both parties suck.

Bob, you should run for president. If you did run, who would be your Veep? Just curious.

I watch because it's great to hear a good speech and learn more. This convention has been terrific!!! Can hardly wait for tonight, and then we'll all fly off to France. (You've been a very busy and funny young man!)

Love the side bar. I swear, I can barely wait for November. Maybe Cece can "poof" us there!

Talk to you over at the Wild Onion and on my blog when I have a few free minutes (too funny), for now I'm surfing while inhaling my lunch. What's new? Hope you're having a great day, and yes, I'm already packing. Oh, and you're aware that painting's going to cost us all a bundle to haul over there, but it's comin' honey!

I am enjoying watching the convention. Even more now that I took Randi Rhodes' advice and watch on CSPAN instead of a network.

It gives me some added insight into the DP and its workings. Plus, when else would I get to see the governor of Montana make a speech?

Damn it. I will be at an ass clown convention next week so I will miss your normal programming.

Suzanne said...

Oh. My. God. Mr. Shife at an Ass Clown Convention? No. No. No. Do I have to watch that sh*t for him? *Hits head a hundred times with "What Should I Do With My Life." Yes Shife, it's coming. It's in the envelope, I just have to plaster the damn address on it then get to the post office. Cut me some slack. I'm imperfect. So where do we look for you? Seriously, where? Yes, I'll watch. Oh God, I feel sick.

Mr. Shife...you are talking about the Republican National Convention, aren't you? I think that's what he meant Suzanne. Ass clowns and Republicans are the same thing, right?

Suzanne said...

RC, I know. Trust me, I know. I think I'm going to be sick, but guess what, just saw the Obama speech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay. I'm healed!

RC, honey you packin' for the trip? If not go to the Cafe for details. You don't have much time. Hurry. Hate to leave you at the airport. Well we'd have a field day with that, but don't think you would! XO

Have a great weekend!!

Everyone's saying have a nice weekend. Do they realize we're all going to France? Hey Bob...have a nice weekend! See you there.

Wow...another amazing speech. And then today a McCain VP choice. Yippie! I smell White House!

XO

P.S. When are we supposed to be at the airport?

I'm concerned. I don't know much about Mcain's VP choice,(Hell I can't even remember her name) but I'm concerned that since she is a woman, it may take some female democratic votes away from Obama. I suppose time will tell. I am pretty sure our country would not survive 4 more years of republican rule, but I was pretty surprised that to find out 4 years ago that there were 57 million idiot in the U.S. too. I mean, I knew there were plenty, but 57 million (that's how many voted for Bush in case you all didn't know). Anyway, I will be sitting at home on the edge of my seat come election night, hoping that my vote counted.

Hey, Shut up, Suzanne. And Stop correcting me. I know my typing sucks. :-) love ya girl.

Hi BOOB,, I mean Bob.

My vote is for McCain/Biden! That ought to be the winning ticket. Seriously though - my undies are not in too big of a wad for this election. I think either one could do the job.
Yes, I know damn well what I said with the McCain/Biden deal - it wasn't a typo.
Aren't we supposed to watch each other's conventions so we know what the enemy is saying? ;)

I can't believe anyone would belived this election doesn't matter. Hummmmmmmmmmm. You have to look 5, 10, 20 years down the road and think, does this election matter? Does my vote count? Yes, of course it does. Actually, they all do. That's what people forget or don't realize.

And Cece, my sister and her hubby voted twice for asshole. I nearly died. What did he ever do for them or this country? But they listen to country/western and are basically told how to vote. A sad moment in the history of my family. :( I'm sure they're voting McCain this time too. Oh well. Total loss. Just like my BMW. :)
