I'm back in California. Here are a few bullet points for all of you to mull over. My body is still on East Coast time and it feels like I've been up 18 hours, catching a few light naps on the plane trips back. Add to it that I caught a cold overnight so I'm wiped out.
I met the 6 month old daughter of two of my closest friends. I'm now unofficially uncle just bob.
I saw five hockey games in 3 days, one national championship, one conference championship, and the Bruins clinch the Northeast Division title.
I unexpectedly got to see a number of people I know but was so very glad I bumped into them.
I had forgotten how beautiful a city Boston is, both during the day and especially at night.
I walked more through Boston this weekend than in the 10 years I lived in New England. But I now know my way around much better than I ever did. Pictures to follow in the next few days.
When we were walking back to car after the Bruins game Sunday afternoon it started to snow. It was only flurries and lasted a mere 5 minutes but it was the perfect end to the weekend.
I'm glad I went, sorry I had to come back, and very ready to return to The Hub.

hi uncle just bob
I can't wait to see the pictures!!
Happy Birthday Uncle Just Bob!
I heart Boston. I was there in 1986. It is a very cool place. While it is a "hub" it still is homey.
Welcome home?
Thanks Kyles.
Karen... as soon as I can find some energy and beat down this cold I'll get some up here.
Merely Me... Boston rocks.
Sounds awesome Bob. Glad you had a great time. It is nice to go back to places after a long absence and remember why you loved it. And sounds like you made some new cool memories as well.
Kylie stole my line. Seriously.
Welcome back! So glad you had a wonderful time, but sorry to hear you're sick. Did it start with a sore throat? I can't figure out what mine is, a cold or allergies, but after 5 damn days of dealing with it I'm so sick today. Everyone I talk to is asking the same thing. Seems so many people are sick. I decided to visit our blogs for a few minutes in an effort to pretend I'm still okay after getting off the phone with Kaiser. It's nice to see all our friends here. Makes me almost feel normal.
Rob just called to inform me I have to take the Mercedes in Thursday morning to have the spark plugs replaced. Me? I'm SO FREAKIN' sick! And I'll have to haul ass from the park to make the 10:30 appointment. And I mean haul ass. I'm going to call Dad after I get off this contraption and ask "Daddy, can't I just go to Auto Zone, buy spark plugs, pull out the old ones and shove in the new ones?" They don't look that complicated. Actually, as soon as I'm through with this comment I'm going to call Auto Zone and ask them first.
Life.
I'm so happy you had a wonderful time back east and that you're now and uncle. Congrats. And the story of the snow falling was beautiful. And all that hockey! Yippie!!! Can hardly wait for the photos.
XO Me
Hi Kylie!
Hi Karen!
Hi Merleyme!
Hi Mr. Shife (aka Mr. Daddy)!
XO to all.
Well Uncle Just Bob, you'll be proud of me as sick as you are. I called Auto Zone. Yes, they do have the Bosch spark plugs for my Mercedes, and after buying 4 and two socket wrenches I should be good to go for less than I'd spend at the mechanics, but more importantly, less time than I'd spend at the mechanics. I'd rather feel sick at home than at the mechanics! Trust me!!! Oh, and good news. They'll walk me through the removal and replacement of the first spark plug, but can't do it themselves because of liability. Lawyers.
Yes Uncle Just Bob it's true. I can paint, cook, garden and play the roll of mechanic when necessary. I can also weld!!! That's the best damn laugh I've had all day. I'll keep you informed. Isn't life terrific?!
Love from one sick puppy to another,
Blottie XO
Ahhhh. Uncle just bob likes college hockey, too?
That is so awesome that you were in Boston! ANd love the lobster slippers to darn cute and I love your cheeky humor friend! :)
Hi bob, hope you're feeling a bit better.
Happy Birthday Bob!
I think I caught your cold this morning. You didn't clean your computer after you used it; did you? Be well.
Mr Shife... the trip was great, coming back not so much. Good luck with the upcoming Baby Shife!
Suzy... mine started with a stuffy nose. I haven't quite gotten a sore throat, mostly scratchy and raw. By the way, can you change my oil for me?
Ree (Hotfessional)... you caught me... a college hockey fan :)
Robyn... Boston was fun and my lobster slippers are wicked warm.
Leah... still not 100%, but hopefully the worst will be over soon.
Merelyme... I didn't clean my keyboard so you may have caught it from me.
