Theme Thursday - Ten

When 10 came out in 1979, I was 12 years old and just beginning to really notice the fairer sex as more than just girls. Of course at the time I was no where near old enough to actually see this movie, but I vividly remember the commercials and advertisements. Bo Derek was my first celebrity crush as a soon-to-be teenager. She was so gorgeous and the famous running on the beach poster above did nothing to discourage a youngster from wanting to find out more about her and other girls. There would be many other celebrity fascinations as I continued to age, but Bo Derek will always be my first crush. She set the benchmark for what a "10" would be for years to come.

I was only little when this came out and I thought it was a "dirty" movie. hahahaha

She is still a beautiful woman.

Great post! Was waiting for someone to actually tackle this film today. :)

Have a nice day.

When I was thinking about this topic, I asked Sarge what was the first thing to come into his mind when I said the word "ten." So, what do you think? Yes, you guessed it. This. Apparently, it made a huge impact on a certain generation of boys!!!

She was fabulous.

When I was 18 and in college for fashion merchandising, the second year girls put on a fashion show with models from the first year.

Being a first year I had to traipse around in front of them and try out for the production with a number on my chest. My number was 10. Needless to say, I wasn't picked for the show.

But my girlfriends back at the residence thought the fact that I got the number 10 was very cool and funny and they stuck my cardboard 10 on the outside of my door.

Some wise ass took a pen to my 10 and in the morning I was reduced to .10

And Dudley Moore made his fame as well! It was a funny movie, I wonder if it stands the test of time?

Yes, she was absolutely a ten for her beauty, but maybe a only two for her acting ability. ;^)

When I hear "10," I also think Bo Derek and the music. What was it? Valero? Something like that.

Well Tony, Bo is a conservative Republican still living in CA. She still looks terrific. 45rtttttt (Bijou just step on the keyboard and wrote that and frankly I have no idea what the hell he's trying to say). I know for a fact she's not 45!

Back to Bo. She's still "hot." I understand because I'm a straight woman and think she's hot! What's up with that? But she's a Repubican. What's up with that? Oh, and when you were 10 I was 18. What's up with that?!

I wrote a post in your honor, so get your ass off the sofa and take a peek. I had so much fun I may visit every damn golf couse in Northern California and not play one damn round. Seriously. I don't play golf, but used "damn" successfully in a sentence twice.

Love you darling. Thanks for such a fun sock contest. You and Leah have actually inspired me to hold one of my own. Thanks too for removing the poll. That thing was just killin' me!!! I've decided to never take part in a contest where I come in third.

I have no idea what you've done to your blog in the past week or so, but I can barely exit anymore. What's up? I've double clicked, I've triple clicked. I'm still here and sorta pissed. Knock it off. I have laundry to do for God sakes. We can't all live in your little la-la land mister.

I'm leaving. Now.

Baby, stop. This isn't funny.

Bo has a lot to answer for.

me and my best friend had to go to 4 different theatres before we found someone who would sell us tickets to get into this movie...It was worth it..and a pretty good and funny movie to boot...Ravel's Bolero is still one of my favorite classical pieces.

It's not Bo's fault I'm as messed up as I am. Don't blame her.

Holy Cow! Look who Bo brought in!
She set the standard high! I still aspire to be like Bo when I grow up!

She was pretty, but a perfect 10 eh!
Perfect means more than just physical attributes.

I thought about posting this on my theme thursday but I've actually never seen the movie. Whenever I jog though I pretend Ravel's Bolero is playing in the background..watch me shake my braided beads!

Yea, she was beautiful and all but that hair! YUCK! I'm sorry but that look doesn't work on ANYONE! Not even Bo Derek.

I feel like a negative 10 today. Oh and I want in on the travelling sock bit.

I just read all the other comments, and mine is so lame. But this word verfication is pretty cool. pophoomi

I like it! I need to finish a cryptococcal antigen now.

Her hair greatly disturbed me though, back then. Yes, she was and still is beautiful, but those braids never appealed to me, and I always disliked them on people. Still do.

It just looks like it hurts a lot.

And yet she married a bloke thirty years older than her.

Slightly gross...
